It may be that the most incredible fact about the study of classical Greek in English-speaking countries is not that it survives, remarkable though that phenomenon is, but rather that there has not in recent memory existed a two-way Greek-English English-Greek dictionary. Can that be said of any other important language? With the publication of this dictionary, however, this is a fact no longer. The Greek-English section of the dictionary is based on Karl Feyerabend's Pocket Greek Dictionary (Classical Greek-English), now more than 90 years old. We have tried to see this slim volume into the modern world, not only by eliminating archaic English and tempering, though, we hope, not obliterating the Germanic influence, but also by giving more information about a considerable number of words.
