This book sketches the portraits of the most important representatives of the ancient Hellenic spirit, i.e. Greek philosophers, artists, politicians, orators, and historians, whose works constitute significant landmarks that are still consulted by modern scholars as well as by ordinary men and women in search of substance. In its 208 pages, it aspires to introduce readers to ancient Hellenic thought by providing brief outlines of the lives and works of most prominent Greeks of antiquity. It also includes typical maxims and aphorisms that have been preserved from antiquity up to the present time. In an age in which we are literally inundated by information, these concise distillations of wisdom are still timely.
