Παρουσίαση
Very little is known today about the traditional architecture of Thasos, an island famous for its ancient glory and its natural charms. Thasos still retains, however, a part of its architectural tradition (despite the pressure of construction which is steadily reducing it) in the form of a single unit which stretches over the entire island and covers a large period of time. This remarkable traditional whole, though only a small amount of it is left, with its special characteristics and variations that mark its long course, has need of systematic protection and care as well as scientifically based study.
This study of Thasos belongs to a series of monographs on the Aegean and Ionian islands, the Peloponnese, mainland Greece, Thessaly, Epirus, Macedonia and Thrace. (From the publisher)
