Tokujin Yoshioka came to furniture design through art and fashion. A set designer and creator of installations, he began collaborating with Driade in 2002 with his intense experiments in the application of unusual, lightweight materials such as paper to the furniture design repertoire. Reinterpreting thousand year-old Japanese crafts in an unusual iconographic and functional manner, he brought oriental accents to the field of international design, and a fresh approach to its technological and industrial potential.
