As an educational psychologist, I have worked extensively with teachers. Yet I am also a parent of two children, now aged 11 and 14 years, and sometimes it seems that these two roles have little overlap. Like all parents, I am concerned with supporting my children's optimal social and emotional development as well as their academic achievement. Naturally, this has involved many conversations over the years with their teachers - conversations which ideally should always be a two-way exchange.
