Παρουσίαση
Claude Monet brought an unrivaled eye for color and composition to the design of the extensive gardens on his property in the village of Giverny, forty miles from Paris. Flourishing roses and Boston ivy echoed his pink stucco house with its green-and-white trim, and the grounds were a well-controlled riot of branch and bloom. Nasturtiums and sunflowers delineated his Grande All?e, whose arched trellises carried climbing roses overhead and whose path led to the water garden, with its iconic bridge and the water lilies Monet loved to paint.Author and photographer Elizabeth Murray helped to restore Monet's estate in the 1980s; since then, she has returned regularly to capture the seasonal changes of the gardens. This calendar features her images, each one annotated with a few words about the flora shown. A quotation from Claude Monet or one of his contemporaries accompanies each photograph.
Pomegranate also publishes Elizabeth Murray's book Monet's Passion: Ideas, Inspiration, and Insights from the Painter's Gardens (revised edition, 2010).
