Παρουσίαση
Psychotherapy is changing. In today's world, such a statement seems to require little explanation. We live in an age of change. Indeed, most of us are so busy coping with the challenges of modern life that we seldom pause to reflect upon the pace and pervasiveness of change in our lives. Consider one striking illustration: the average person of the last century was born, lived a lifespan of perhaps 60 years, and died-all within a radius of about 8 miles. In today's world, 8 miles seems like a short distance to most commuters. Moreover, the average citizen of the 21st century is expected to not only travel more extensively than any of his or her historical predecessors, but also to interact with more of his fellow planetary citizens than can yet be appreciated. Taking into account the exponential growth of communication technologies, it is not unreasonable to think that our descendants will interact with more people in one day than our ancestors had met in an entire lifetime. The rate of change in today's world-and the complexities of personal identity and social participation within that world-are unprecedented in human history. (From the publisher)Περιεχόμενα
