Παρουσίαση
This publication marks a significant exhibition of drawings and paintings by the renowned British artist Roger Hilton (1911-75). Celebrating key moments in the career of this significant twentieth-century painter, the exhibition included more than 70 paintings and drawings from public and private collections. One of the most original painters of the post-war period, Hilton was a central figure contributing to the recognition of the Cornish artists' colony as a centre for British contemporary art during the 1950s and 60s. The exhibition includes several of his well known large scale paintings of that period such as Tate's Oi Yoi Yoi 1963, complemented by drawings and oils from the 1960s, a series of 1970s gouaches, and more ardently abstract works from the early 1950s.
