This book arose from a workshop on Cross-Cultural Marriage, convened by the Centre for Cross-Cultural Research on Women at Queen Elizabeth House, the University of Oxford in March 1993. The chapters here cover multiple aspects of mixed marriage in diverse countries: Germany, Spain, Nepal, Guyana, Uganda, Denmark and Japan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Britain, the United States and Ghana. It is worth noting that out of fifteen contributors, eleven have personal experience of marriage to a foreigner and the twelfth is a daughter of such a marriage. These experiences, even if implicit, have helped to stimulate and shape their enquiries and thus enrich this book. [...] (From the publisher)
