Jeff Koons' art is sensuous and sexy, conceptual and playful. It speaks directly to the beholder and has done so since the 1980s, when Koons conquered the art world with his basketball sculptures and a blow-up rabbit transformed into stainless steel. And when he appeared in love scenes with his wife in the Made in Heaven series at the beginning of the 1990s and made a 12-meter-high puppy out of thousands of flowers and put it in front of the baroque castle in Arolsen, he dad gained a firm place in media attention. Today he celebrates the myths of everyday life in large-format paintings dominated by comic-book figures and in mirror-finished sculptures, where his immaculate craftsmanship turns nondescript objects into consummate works of art.
