Small apartments with all the comforts of a larger unit or even a house - that’s the dream of designers and their clients alike. Especially when that available space is scant, what is needed is inventiveness and a creative design on the part of the architect. The 20 projects presented in this book offer a whole variety of solutions: apartments in which light, proportions and color defy the impression of spatial confinement, or whose ambient is created with particular motif or an unusual material, sometimes also with a sculptural form or a special detail. The examples show how a high degree of flexibility, the possibility of using one and the same room in numerous ways, or the use of movable elements can turn the smallest of rooms into large oases for living.
