Παρουσίαση

Book rationale: Geopolitical and geostrategic analysis, critically approached by the author, of most important issues of Hellenic Foreign Policy as developed in the geopolitical clusters of a) the Mediterranean, b) Central Balkans and c) the Caucasus. The Methodology applied is the Systemic Geopolitical Analysis as internationally introduced by Professor I. Th. Mazis.
The book's rationale pivots on the role of Turkey as outlined by Prof. Ahmet Davutoglu (f. Foreign Minister, f. Prime Minister) and applied to date by Erdogan -in all above-mentioned geopolitical Clusters- despite Davutoglu's ousting from the AKP party, an examination is followed of the impact of Davutoglu's revisionary plans as implemented by Erdogan with regard to Greek geostrategic presence and existence and correlations with secure or non-secure presence of Greece and the Republic of Cyprus with Western Security as perceived in the context of applicable Euro-Atlantic understanding. Pedagogical Features
The book refers to any level researchers and thus, the argumentation inside is developed with a parallel analysis of case studies, while specific primary sources (e.g. documents or treaties) are given for anyone wanting to further his/her knowledge both in theory and these specific case studies (i.e., Davutoglu's Turkey, Cyprus, Balkan Region, the Aegean System and the overall Greek-Turkish geostrategic antagonism, Eastern Mediterranean and the Caucasus). At the beginning of any chapter, research questions draw the following argumentation and the line of analysis. Therefore, the book helps the reader to recognize the distribution of roles and positioning among the main state actors of the aforementioned case studies, to proceed into a 'pros and cons' analysis with regard to main issues of international politics, to evaluate correctly the published data, in epistemological and methodological terms, to comparatively analyze these case studies in relation to other similar geopolitical complexes in the European periphery and beyond and finally, to describe and analyze the challenges arising for main strategic actors, whose geostrategic behavior shapes interstate balance of power and interests. (Emeritus Professor loannis Th. Mazis)
